Signaic in Visual Studio Code

Ask SIG/NAIC AI from chat in Visual Studio Code.

Before you start

Visual Studio Code with GitHub Copilot chat. If your organization manages Copilot, its policy must allow Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.

Visual Studio Code connects to Signaic through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). You sign in with your own Signaic account, so the connection reads only what your plan includes.

Visual Studio Code docs: add MCP servers(opens in a new tab)

Set it up

  1. Step 1: In Visual Studio Code, open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server.

  2. Step 2: Choose HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), paste the server address and name it signaic.

    https://signaic.com/api/mcp
  3. Step 3: Choose whether to save it for this workspace (.vscode/mcp.json) or for your user profile.

  4. Step 4: Start the server when asked, sign in to Signaic in the browser and select Allow.

  5. Step 5: In chat, in agent mode, ask a question that mentions Signaic.

When you sign in

A Signaic window opens. Sign in with your Signaic account and your two-step verification code if you use one. The Signaic screen names the app asking to connect, shows the address it returns to, and lists what it can read: the companies, partnerships, filings and deadlines your plan includes, The Orbital Brief, your own alerts, and answers from SIG/NAIC AI. Select Allow. Because Visual Studio Code runs on your computer, the screen also says the app returns to your own machine.

Five questions to try

  • Which mobile carriers have signed direct-to-device agreements this year, and with which satellite operators?
  • What comment deadlines are due at the Federal Communications Commission in the next 14 days?
  • Summarize AST SpaceMobile's filings from the last 30 days.
  • Which companies won the largest space contracts last quarter?
  • What changed for the companies on my watchlist this week?

What the connection can and cannot do

  • It can read the record your plan includes and answer with citations.
  • It cannot change anything in your workspace. It is read-only.
  • Your plan's limits apply.
  • You can revoke it at any time in Settings, Connections.

Which Signaic plans include it

Included with Signaic Watch, Signaic Terminal and Enterprise. On The Orbital Brief, a connection reads the latest issue's top stories only.

Questions

What does the saved entry look like?
In mcp.json: "servers": { "signaic": { "type": "http", "url": "https://signaic.com/api/mcp" } }.
Which Signaic plans can connect?
Included with Signaic Watch, Signaic Terminal and Enterprise. On The Orbital Brief, a connection reads the latest issue's top stories only.
Can Visual Studio Code change anything in my Signaic workspace?
No. The connection is read-only. It can search and read the record your plan includes and ask SIG/NAIC AI, nothing else.
How do I disconnect?
Remove the signaic entry from mcp.json, or run MCP: List Servers and remove it there. You can also revoke it in Signaic under Settings, Connections, which ends its access at once.
